Ryan's Story
Ryan grew up in Minnesota and Iowa with his parents and two younger sisters. In high school, he was involved in various activities and sports including, baseball, track & field, band, theatre, and art. From 2006 to 2009, he marched with the Blue Stars Drum & Bugle Corps playing trumpet and mellophone. In 2010, Ryan earned his BFA in Graphic Design from Iowa State University. He continued his education at Virginia Tech and earned his MFA in Creative Technologies in 2013.
After graduation, Ryan moved to Richmond to pursue a career in Animation and Design. An internship at the Martin Agency led to steady work as a freelance animator and a full-time position with Hue&Cry as a Designer & Animator shortly after. Ryan has worked with Hue&Cry for five years and is currently a Senior Animator. In his spare time, he enjoys playing video games, making the occasional cocktail, and spending time relaxing at home with Lynsey and their cats, Cinder, Sorry, and Kit Kat.
Their Story
How Lynsey and Ryan met is actually pretty boring. The really interesting story is their third date. They decided to spend an entire Saturday together - quality time really getting to know each other. On their way to dinner, Lynsey’s mom, Susan, called asking for her help. Lynsey’s sister, Annabelle, had broken both her wrists doing a handstand at a friend’s party. Susan was at the emergency room with Annabelle and two of Lynsey’s other younger siblings, Jackson and Lily. She needed Lynsey to come pickup Jackson and Lily, take them home, and get dinner for the rest of the family.
Without a second thought, Ryan went with Lynsey to help. Ryan got to meet most of Lynsey’s large family and watching her take care of them all only made him fall deeper in love. Lynsey was impressed that he was not only okay, but genuinely interested in going with her to take care of her family. Seeing Ryan interact so comfortably with her whole family made her happier than she’d been in a while and she knew this was something special.
Lynsey's Story
Lynsey was born in Alabama, but moved to Virginia when she was just 3 years old. She spent most of her childhood in Mechanicsville with her ever growing family. She stayed close to home after High School and went to VCU to study Advertising after her interest in Graphic Arts in High School. She realized shortly before graduation that Advertising wasn’t her true passion in life.
After graduation, she fell into an office job at the Nanny Agency she worked for throughout college. Upon leaving that position, Lynsey found herself at a crossroads trying to figure out what her true passion was and if it was in Richmond. After some exploring, she realized she wanted to continue to stay close to home and stay in the childcare field. She is now the Assistant Director of School Aged Programming at LeafSpring School in Mechanicsville and couldn’t be happier! In her free time, she loves watching Netflix, making things on her Silhouette, and playing with watercolors.
